Maputo, Mozambique, 26 Feb - Mozambique's Ministry of Mineral Resources has set up a technical commission to oversee activities in the area of mining extraction and verify their legality, the Maputo-based newspaper Noticias has reported.

The team will begin work in Maputo province and will initially assess the situation of construction material extraction activities, quarries and sand pits.

The resulting reports will indicate problems and proposed solutions and help the ministry remedy non-compliance with mining legislation recorded throughout the country and in Maputo province in particular.
