Maputo, 26 Feb - Companies in difficult financial straits due to the international financial crisis cannot expect to receive financing, the president of Mozambique's Institute for the Management of State Participations (IGEPE) stated on Thursday in Maputo.
Daniel Gabriel said that Mozambique's state-held companies will feel the impact of the international financial crisis for the second straight year, but "have to go it alone" because the state will provide no stimulus packages.
Mozambican companies should be more competitive and focus on internationalization to generate returns and value on investments, he added.
To improve the performance of state-held enterprises, the IGEPE in partnership with the Brazilian Corporate Governance Institute will offer three courses on corporate governance this year, targeting managers of Mozambican public companies.
The courses (the first from March 2 to 4) will cover aspects ranging from fundamental company governance values to relations with governing bodies and business administration structure.
