Cape Verde air carrier TACV starts flights to Madrid in July   [ 2010-03-02 ]

Lisbon, Portugal, 2 March – Cape Verdean air carrier, TACV, is in July due to launch a scheduled flight linking Boa Vista and Sal to Madrid, said Mário Almeida, TACV’s sales and services director for Portugal and Spain.

“The flight is scheduled but seats will be sold in blocks,” said Almeida adding that he was negotiating with operators for Boa Vista island, whilst to Sal island 60 tickets per week until the end of the flight period, in September, had already been bought.

“After that date the flight may be continued if traffic so justifies it,” he said noting that Spain’s interest in Cape Verde was longstanding as an Iberostar Hotels & resorts hotel had opened on Boa Vista island.

TACV had previously announced a new flight between Sao Vicente and Lisbon due to begin at the end of April with the aim of increasing the number of tourists to the island by 15 percent
