Angolan government wants more public-private partnerships in road network   [ 2010-07-16 ]

Lisbon, Portugal, 16 July – The Angolan government plans to focus on public-private partnerships (PPPs) for road concessions, the Angolan Minister for Urbanism and Construction, José da Silva Ferreira said Thursday in Lisbon.

At the end of the ceremony to sign a number of protocols and memoranda of understanding with Portugal, the minister noted that in 2002 the Angolan government had launched a programme for reconstruction of infrastructures, namely roads in order to ensure proper circulation throughout the country.

"Following this programme we took on a debt of over US$4 billion,” Silva Ferreira adding that “it is a lot of money that the government has invested in Angola’s roads,” in which it is focusing on PPPs. (macauhub)
